Taverham Mill is one of the most attractive spots in East Anglia and only 1.2ml from the Bothy There is a small charge to walk the nature trail at the moment £3.00 per person. It is situated by an old weir and mill pool on the river Wensum.
The site covers 100 acres and is divided into four lakes, a stretch of the river Wensum, woodland and fenland. On the site are two small weir pools, walks and a newly refurbished visitor centre and tackle shop. So ideal for birdwatchers as there is a hide to watch over the water meadow and fish in the lakes for the anglers.
Coarse fishing is available at Taverham Lake and nearly there are several newer gravel pits at Costessey which are stocked with carp, Also at Lake 2 at Costessey is also used for water-skiing during the summer
