Hi, I am Rosie and I would like to tell you a story of how the idea of starting a holiday let began.
At the end of our house is an old Bothy that used to be the assistant gardeners house and was full of charm and character, but was lost in time. It seemed such a shame that this was not being used with such a beautiful bedroom with a beamed ceiling and three windows which faced south, west and north. But it was sadly unused and needed a new kitchen and shower room fitted.
We always wanted to bring this space to life again and to be used to give as many people as possible to enjoy this peaceful spot. However, Martin and I both worked full time and although we talked about ideas we were always too busy. So when I became redundant I seized the opportunity to make a dream come true and bring the Bothy alive.
Then it was all hands to the deck to strip out and refurbish, but I hit one problem when I pulled the ligaments in my shoulder while on our canal boat holiday as I managed to slip while jumping onto the riverbank trying to get the boat moored up. So that made all painting jobs take a lot longer than it should have done.
We got some great people in to do the professional jobs as it needed a new kitchen, new flooring, and complete bathroom refit. Then everything came together and now after receiving such wonderful feedback from guests it feels so worthwhile.
The beauty of the Bothy and where we live is being tucked away in the beautiful woodlands while also being so close to Norwich where there are some great restaurants. So we celebrated this new chapter at one of our favourite restaurant is Trattoria Rustica which is just off Tombland on Princes street with a dozen Lumache alla Rustica (Shell on snails) and a half litre of Merlot.
